Featured on Etsy's Front Page!

It's always such a treat when I get featured on the front page of Etsy.  My views go through the roof and it's just so exciting- I signed up on Statsy Featurator to be notified when I'm featured in something, so I just got the email that I'm on the front page right now! Thanks to Diaper Cake Boutique for creating the treasury.  Here is the selected treasury - my print is in the bottom row, "Misty Forest".

fill in the blank friday!

Finally Friday! I had a dream I was fired last night, then I woke up in the middle of the night thinking it was Saturday and that I didn't have to go to work today, then I went back to sleep after my 25 minutes of snoozes finished and made it to work 30 minutes late.
So the point is, I'm so ready for it to be the weekend! I think I've been even more excited about weekends lately because I'm just so tired of the same boring job every day.  I just need about a month of vacation to get refreshed, without losing my job.  riiiiiigggghhhhhttt, like that'll happen haha.

1.   One of life's most simple pleasures is     reading on a bay window seat while its raining outside (I really want a bay window!)  .

2.    Having to listen to my coworker singing allll daaaay long if I'm already in a bad mood      makes me want to punch someone.

3.  I like   colored sharpies    because,    they are awesome, and colorful, and permanent  .

4.    Uranus   is a funny word.

5.  If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be    You know, I'm not really a "product" kind of girl... I love my new C.O. Bigelow peppermint lip gloss (no. 1122), it's lickable and makes your lips kinda tingly.

6.  I'm happy that    it's friday, thank goodness    .

7.  I would never     hmm... I just clicked on almost every link on Lauren's blog trying to get an idea, and there was nothing that I thought fit me.  I guess I'll just say that I would never say never    .

what i want wednesday!

just a random sampling of things i'm loving right now from etsy...
Chevron gray white yellow fabric bin from treasuredtotes08 on etsy

3D Farmhouse Embroidery Hoop Art from saysthetree on etsy
Plume Signature Napkins by PlumeTextiles on etsy

Staghorn Cable Knit Pillow Sham in Gray by PreciousKnits on etsy

Faux Bois Mug in Creamy White by jadeflower on etsy
Apparently I'm feeling a little gray today... I think I'm just wishing for fall and gloomier weather.  My co-worker and I were just talking about how we hope the hurricane brings us some rain this weekend because it would be fun to be stuck inside and not have to go anywhere or do anything.  Which I know is mean to the people about to be hit by the hurricane, so I'll retract my statement and just hope I get some rain!

Office Makeover Update! Yellow and Gray Awesomeness!

so, i am finally finished with the actual wall painting part of the project... dark gray-blue walls and bright yellow ceiling!  The pictures are looking a little more buttery yellow than sunshine yellow, but believe me, it's sunshiney!

And I have started on my DIY birch tree forest wall, I've done one coat of paint and it is nowhere near covering up the gray, so I probably should've invested in some primer, but at least each coat doesn't take too long with my little roller, so it shouldn't take too terribly long.  Here's my status:

I'm taking pictures along the way, and I'll be back soon with a DIY painted wall tree tutorial.

I've also gotten a better idea of how I want the actual "office" part of my desk to look.  I was really inspired by this office I found on pinterest:
office white countertop green pattern curtains modern minimal
I love the clean modern look of the cabinet-inspired desk unit, and I started looking for countertops.  I want to build a custom drawer/cabinet/nook system to make sure all my paper/envelopes/supplies fit, so the hardest part was coming up with how to make a desktop.  I looked on a couple sites and was finding prices of over $100 for a 6 foot section of countertop, but then I found an Ikea countertop that is 8 feet long and only $39! The little problem is that 8 feet is a little too long to fit in/on top of my car, and no matter what you buy at ikea, it's $100 for them to ship it to you! I'll figure out something though.

I also decided I am finally going to get an Expedit shelving system from Ikea.  I've always wanted one, and I just kept waiting and waiting and the price kept going up and up, so at this point it's like $50 more than it was a couple years ago, and I'm sure it's not going down, so I'm just going to finally get one.

I really loved the yellow interior of the shelves in my inspiration board for my office, so I started doing some research to see how easy/difficult it would be to paint the interior of the shelves, and I found ikeahackers.net, where people share their revamped Ikea furniture, and I found this post where a guy used contact vinyl on his shelves:

I think it looks great and I'm looking into getting yellow vinyl on ebay.  I also really like the inserts for the Expedit system - there's one that's a door and one that has 2 drawers, but holy bejeezus those things are $35 each! Hello, you're IKEA!
Anyway, that's where I'm at right now in the office remodeling process.  I'm really excited with the vision I have in my head, and I'm hoping it's going to look as great in real life!

fill in the blank friday!

Hey everybody! It's Friday, thank goodness.  I have been in a really bad mood all week, and I'm tired and cranky and I'm just ready to relax.  Not much on the weekend outlook, just some more ceiling painting and fixing the ceiling that had been leaking in our laundry room (although I will have no part in fixing that, I'll just supervise.)

1.   My idea of pure perfection would be     if every day felt like late October.

2.    Love      makes the world go 'round.

3.  If it weren't for    not having enough money    I'd    travel the world and make awesome crafty things  .

4.  Bloggers are   awesome .

5.  If I had    a million dollars    I'd buy you    a plane!

6.  I'm glad it's Friday because     good god this week has been long/annoying .

7.  Something I'm excited about is     working on my new yellow and gray office  .

busy busy bee

Whoo! It's been busy around here... I've been painting my basement (dark gray walls and yellow ceiling) and of course the yellow ceiling is taking For. ev. er.  Apparently there's something about a bright yellow pigment that makes you have to do 3+ coats to make it look really even.  And apparently painting is hazardous to my health because I've got a crick in my neck, a bum knee and a sore thigh.  I've been painting in lieu of working out this week, and my mom and I just started a new weightloss challenge, so I'm hoping painting is a calorie burner!

I've got a couple Priss Designs shop announcements:
1.  I've put my Gray Chevron with Yellow Bird print on sale through Dibsie for the next 5 days only, a site where you can find deals on a lot of your favorite brands, including j.crew, anthropologie, world market, bcbgeneration, and more!
Here's the link to my sale: http://dibsie.com/deal/2613

2. Also, I completely lost track of my 30 day art challenge, but here's Day 30ish - I just added an abstract pattern that I created that is based on a peacock feather.
Available in the shop!

I'll post some updated office remodel pics soon, I'm trying to get the painting done before I start really thinking about the next step, which will be building a desk.  I was really inspired by this desk made of reclaimed hardwood flooring that I saw on the hgtv blog:
Video on the HGTV blog
I was thinking I liked the angle of the desk, but after measuring and realizing I need a desk that is 11 feet wide and at least 26" deep, I'm thinking the angle won't really work for me... however, I really like the look of the hardwood floor top, and it may end up being cheaper than buying wood planks.

And don't worry, I'll be doing a lot of ana-white.com research to figure out a good plan of attack for the desk.  I love love love her and her site.  Oh and if anyone wants to buy me a present, I would like a kreg jig please!
OK I'll quit asking for handouts.  Have a good week!

what i want wednesday!

Today I've got a special edition of What I Want Wednesday, because I am planning an office makeover!  I could really use some advice, because I am planning on painting the walls of my office dark gray.  My dilemma is that my "office" is in the basement, and there is a wall of windows so I get some light, but it's generally pretty dark down there and I'm wondering if the dark walls are going to make everything gloomy and depressing.  My plan, however, is to counteract the darkness with YELLOW!  There is a tray ceiling and I plan to paint both the horizontal and vertical part of the tray ceiling a bright yellow, and also all the furniture will be white with pops of yellow everywhere.  What do you guys think?
Here is my inspiration board for the space:
Oh I forgot to mention my plan is to paint or draw silver trees on the wall directly behind the desk, I thought it would be a good idea to just draw the outlines in silver paint pen like this example, but with silver on a dark gray background:

So for my "what i wants" today, I'll be focusing on cute office accessories for my new office remodel!

fill in the blank friday!

Finally Friday! This week has been long and boring (except for having to worry about my car).  Plus I walked downstairs Wednesday night to find a slow leak in the ceiling of the laundry room.  My husband's plan is to cut out a section of the ceiling tomorrow to see what's going on up there, and we can tell it's been patched before, so hopefully we can just patch it again.  No other real plans for the weekend... What about yall?

Don't forget to fill in the blanks and link up at the little things we do.

1.   My go to outfit for a dress-up occasion like a wedding is      a dress... and since i don't really like any of my dresses I usually go buy another one for every occasion, but i buy a $20 one from ross, which i then dislike, so i need another new one....

2.  This week has been    hot and long... on wednesday, i thought it was thursday, and when i found out it was only wednesday i was pissed!

3.  When it's dinnertime and I'm feeling lazy I'll usually eat     eggs or cereal.

4.  My favorite pair of shoes is   flipflops.

5.  A random item that I own that is completely unnecessary, but that I could never part with is      hmm.  this is a tough one.  whenever i think about what i would grab if the house was on fire, it is always my engagement ring and a scrapbook that i made right after high school that i treasure.

6.  My favorite person is     my husband.  otherwise i wouldn't have married him haha!  he's good at calming me down, and he makes me laugh.

7.  If I were going to write my own blank it would say     "What are you wearing right now?"  on second thought that's a little creepy, but it's the best i could come up with haha

what i want wednesday! plus weekend update

well, i had a pretty eventful weekend.  i went to meet my mom about 2 hours away to give her the chihuahua bookbag for my niece, who started school monday.  i was about 60 miles away when my low gas alert popped up and said i had about 50 miles of gas left, and i figured those things give you an allowance of at least 10 miles anyway, so i hit ignore and kept on my merry way, thinking i would go to a gas station when i got closer.  By the time I knew I was close to being empty, I realized that the exits on the highway were few and far between, and I was not seeing any with gas stations.  I pulled out my tomtom and it said the nearest gas station was 5.1 miles away.  Well, i made it only 3 more miles before i died.  it was over 100 degrees outside, so i sat there with the windows down in my black car with the black leather seats, sweating my butt off, for over an hour while i waited for my mom to come bring me gas.  fast forward a couple days and my car wasn't starting right, so we had to take it in to the mechanic.  apparently running out of gas is bad for your car.  when the fuel injectors are injecting air into your engine, it's not good.  luckily, in my case, my battery had just run super low from me sitting there with the flashers on and trying to restart it a couple times to roll the windows down, but the lesson to be learned here is don't run out of gas if your car has fuel injection! (and most cars from the 90s forward do).  In high school, i had a 1964 nova, and the gas gauge did not work, when my car started sputtering a little bit, i would know i had to get to the gas station quick-like, and all i had to do was swerve back and forth to get the remaining gas to slosh around in the tank... haha can't you just imagine me swerving down the road like a crazy person?!

anyway, car is fixed, i learned my lesson (hopefully), and now we can get back to more important things!  like things i want! haha

#1 thing I want right now is FALL! get me out of this heat and into Halloween weather! My fave time of year!

Did you guys see this really cool/easy tree wall on Design Star a couple weeks ago? I really want to attempt it.
Really cute wire "LOVE" letters.  From newivystyle on etsy.
This is a really cool chevron wooden pendant, but I think it would also be really cool as a large wooden wall art piece, maybe with wire or something.  Definitely a cool DIY idea.  This is by IbbyandRufus on etsy.
